JL Morison is a well known trading company of consumer products. The company manufactures and sells healthcare and skin care products in the UK and the indian subcontinental. J.L. Morison (India) Ltd. enhance their business continuity and disaster recovery posture by leveraging AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (EDR) for their mission-critical SAP workloads. By enabling near real-time replication, rapid failover, and cost-effective cloud-based recovery, J.L. Morison achieved resilience against hardware failures and cyber threats while reducing both downtime and disaster recovery costs.
Customer Challenge
J.L. Morison faced multiple business continuity challenges:
• Single Point of Failure: No dedicated disaster recovery setup for SAP workloads, creating a major business risk.
• RTO/RPO Constraints: Existing recovery capabilities could not meet required business continuity standards.
• High Downtime Risks: Hardware failure or cyber incidents could result in prolonged service outages.
• Cost & Scalability: Expanding DR with on-premises infrastructure would require heavy upfront investments and continuous maintenance.
The challenge was to design a resilient yet cost-effective disaster recovery solution that met aggressive recovery objectives without building a physical DR site.
Solution
To ensure JL Morison Disaster Recovery, we deployed AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery to protect JL Morison workload with near real-time replication, rapid failover and secure access control :
• Continuous Replication: Installed AWS Replication Agent on SAP servers for real-time, block-level replication to AWS.
• Cost-Optimized Staging: Replicated data stored in a low-cost AWS staging environment until failover is required.
• Pre-Built Target Environment: Configured AWS infrastructure to rapidly launch SAP workloads during DR drills or actual disruptions.
• Secure & Tested: Integrated IAM for role-based access control and conducted DR drills to validate rapid recovery.
Architecture Diagram

The architecture replicates J.L. Morison’s on-premises SAP workloads to AWS using the AWS Replication Agent, which performs continuous block-level replication into a cost-efficient staging area within the AWS Cloud. During a disruption or planned drill, the data is instantly launched in a pre-configured target environment, ensuring rapid recovery with minimal downtime. Secure access and governance are enforced through AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), providing role-based control and compliance across the disaster recovery process.
Outcome
• Successfully implemented Disaster Recovery Solution, with near zero data loss.
• Near-Zero Data Loss: Achieved RPO in minutes with continuous replication.
• Rapid Recovery: Reduced RTO from 6–8 hours to under 15 minutes.
• Cost Savings: Eliminated the need for a physical DR site through AWS’s pay-as-you-go model.
• Scalable DR Capacity: Cloud-based DR grows seamlessly with business needs.
• Enhanced Confidence: Regular failover drills validated operational resilience.
